Your Role as a Chemotherapy Nurse:

  • Patient Assessment: Conduct pre- and post-treatment evaluations, considering overall health, medical history, and potential side effects.
  • Treatment Administration: Safely administer chemotherapy and other prescribed medications, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Monitoring and Management: Observe patients for adverse reactions during treatment and manage any complications effectively.
  • Education: Provide patients and families with guidance on treatment, potential side effects, and self-care practices.
  • Care Coordination: Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver integrated patient care.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed and accurate records of treatment plans and patient responses.
  • Supportive Care: Offer emotional support and counseling to patients and their families.
  • Preparation and Safety: Prepare chemotherapy medications in compliance with strict safety standards and infection control protocols.
  • Post-Treatment Care: Monitor for delayed side effects, manage symptoms, and schedule follow-ups.
  • Emergency Response: Act swiftly and effectively in critical situations, including allergic reactions or severe side effects.
  • Teamwork: Contribute to a multidisciplinary team, participating in case discussions and quality improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Bring:

  • RN Registration: Valid and current registration is essential.
  • Specialised Certification: Completion of a chemotherapy or oncology nursing certification programme.
  • Clinical Experience: Experience in oncology, chemotherapy administration, and intravenous medication management.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Expertise in chemotherapy protocols, cytotoxic drug handling, and managing side effects.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to educate and support patients and families.
