Sanctuary Personnel, a leading healthcare recruitment agency, is recruiting on behalf of Guernsey. We are seeking an experienced Clinical Coding Specialist to deliver high-quality diagnostic and operative coding. In this essential role, you’ll transform complex clinical data into precise, actionable codes, directly supporting patient care and advancing healthcare services on the island.
What You’ll Do:
- Master Coding Accuracy: Use your expertise in ICD10 & OPCS (4.9) to translate complex medical information into standardized codes for all specialties, ensuring precision across all records.
- Data Extraction & Entry: Collect and code data from medical records, discharge summaries, and systems like TrakCare and Histology to ensure timely and accurate data input.
- Collaborate & Communicate: Partner with medical teams to clarify coding for new and existing procedures and keep the process seamless after patient discharge.
- Consistency & Quality Control: Ensure all records are consistent, accurate, and up-to-date, collaborating with the Medical Records Manager to resolve any issues.
- Expert Guidance: Provide coding advice and expertise to the data quality team and other departments, fostering a culture of accuracy and efficiency.
- Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest coding standards by connecting with UK NHS organizations and attending relevant workshops.
- Confidentiality & Compliance: Handle sensitive patient data responsibly, adhering to data protection laws and maintaining confidentiality.
What You’ll Bring:
- Qualifications: ACC certification with recent audit experience and refresher courses.
- Technical Skills: Experience with clinical coding systems like TrakCare or SimpleCode, along with strong IT skills in Word and Excel.
- Analytical Precision: Excellent attention to detail and judgment skills, ensuring high accuracy even under pressure.
- Medical Knowledge: Solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Self-Management: Ability to prioritize and complete tasks independently while staying positive.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage effectively with a variety of healthcare professionals.
