About the Role
If you are passionate about enhancing adult patients' communication abilities, managing dysphagia, and working across both acute and community settings, this role is for you. You will manage your own caseload, delivering patient-centred care in diverse settings, and collaborating closely with a dedicated healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Specialist Therapy: Provide advanced speech and language therapy to adult patients, managing complex cases and developing tailored care plans that make a real impact.
  • Dysphagia Expertise: Serve as the in-house expert on dysphagia, supporting colleagues and offering clinical insights on challenging cases.
  • Interdisciplinary Care: Work closely with nurses and other health professionals to deliver comprehensive care for adults with complex needs across acute and community settings.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Supervise and guide a team of SLT professionals, mentoring junior staff and students to foster growth and development.
  • Service Improvement: Contribute to service enhancements by shaping policies and procedures, continually improving patient care standards.
  • Patient & Family Support: Offer empathetic and adaptable support to patients and families, especially in sensitive or challenging situations.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay current through professional development and share your expertise with other healthcare staff, carers, and patients.
  • Research & Audit: Engage in research and audits to further advance the field of speech and language therapy.

Requirements

  • Essential:
    • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, with a Certificate to Practise.
    • Certified membership with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
    • HCPC registration.
    • Postgraduate qualification in dysphagia.
    • Significant experience in adult acute and community speech and language therapy, with strong expertise in dysphagia.
  • Desirable:
    • Five years of experience, with knowledge of voice, post-chemo, and radiotherapy caseloads.
    • Experience as a student practice educator.
    • Driving licence (preferred for community settings).
