Main duties of the Social Worker:
- Chair both Initial and Review Child Protection Conferences to either initiate or review the child protection plans for children who may be suffering or are likely to suffer significant harm
- These conferences will be within statutory timescales, facilitating the full participation of professionals, parents and children and young people, and ensuring the views of children and young people are heard and given due attention
- In addition to these chairing responsibilities, you may be required to chair our new Risk Outside the Home (ROTH) conferences, where children and young people may be vulnerable to risks from extra-familial harm, as well as providing specialist consultation and support to colleagues on a range of issues relating to child protection
- Ensure the provision of an efficient service to children and young people in need of protection, through effective inter-agency working across the child protection system
Requirements of the Social Worker:
- Degree or equivalent in social work
- Current Social Work England registration
- Significant frontline experience in Childrens Social Services within the UK working as a qualified Social Worker
- Extensive experience and a proven track record in working within the child in need and child protection arenas, as well as a very good understanding of supporting and planning for children in our care
- Experience of chairing and managing complex family and multiagency meetings and be able to work with Social Workers, families, and partner agencies in developing complex child protection plans
