About the Role
You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team providing person-centred care to older adults with mental health needs, including dementia and complex medical conditions. As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will:
- Take charge of the ward in the absence of a senior nurse, ensuring smooth operations.
- Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans.
- Provide compassionate care to support daily living activities and enhance the quality of life for patients.
- Administer medications safely and respond to emergencies with professionalism.
- Support junior staff as a practice assessor/supervisor, fostering their growth and development.
- Collaborate with service users' families and the multidisciplinary team to achieve the best outcomes.
About the Practice Area
The Adult Community Services team in Guernsey operates across four specialised wards. These are designed to provide tailored care to individuals over 70 years old, including those with dementia or other complex medical needs. The team is committed to delivering care that respects dignity, promotes independence, and improves quality of life.
Key Requirements
Essential:
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) or Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with valid registration.
- Degree/Diploma in Nursing.
- Compassionate and committed to delivering patient-centred care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Leadership qualities with a proactive approach to staff and service development.
- Physically fit to meet the role’s demands.
Desirable:
- Experience working with older adults in a mental health or care setting.
