Design Manager – Buildings

Contract 12 Months +
Location: Plymouth

Hybrid working mostly remote with visits to Devonport and client office
IR35: Inside

Our Client has a requirement for a Design Manager – Buildings, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Plymouth.

Role Purpose:

To manage and oversee the multidisciplinary design elements of buildings, ensuring technical performance, compliance with safety requirements, and successful integration with other design packages.

Job Role Responsibilities:

• Manage multidisciplinary building design elements, ensuring designer technical performance and resolving technical issues.
• Provide technical guidance and review design packages, including safety functional requirements.
• Oversee integration of designs with other packages and ensure documentation meets scope, standards, schedule, and budget.
• Contribute to project planning and implementation, addressing key technical and operational factors.

Experience Required:

• Proven high-level technical management of complex building projects.
• Experience in designing and constructing major industrial buildings (e.g., workshops, offices, storage).
• Beneficial: Experience in high-hazard facilities (e.g., nuclear, hospitals, X-ray facilities).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Engineering (minimum).
• Preferred: Chartered Architect or Engineer registered with a relevant body.
• Ideally experienced in Nuclear, Defence, or other highly regulated industries.
