Locum Social Worker – Child Protection / Children in Need

Role Overview

A qualified and experienced Locum Social Worker is required to join the Child Protection / Children in Need team in Merseyside. This role offers a competitive hourly rate of £34.86 and the flexibility to work full-time or part-time, providing an opportunity to develop professional expertise within a diverse and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complex caseloads, including Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), Looked-After Children (LAC), and Children with Disabilities (CWD).

  • Conduct assessments, care planning, and risk management to safeguard children and promote their welfare.

  • Work collaboratively with families, carers, and multi-agency professionals to develop and implement tailored support plans.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and statutory guidance, including the Children Act 1989 and Working Together to Safeguard Children.

  • Contribute to case reviews, attend strategy meetings, and provide written reports for court proceedings where required.

  • Participate in continuous professional development (CPD) and training to enhance skills and maintain regulatory compliance.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification).

  • Registration with Social Work England.

  • Significant experience in statutory children's services, particularly within Child Protection and Children in Need teams.

  • Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and safeguarding procedures.

  • Ability to work flexibly, including participation in duty rotas where required.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable but not essential).
