Location: Bury, Greater Manchester
Working Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £33,024 - £35,745 per annum

Main Duties as a Social Worker:
- Professional Social Work Services: Provide support and intervention to children and families in need.
- Child Protection Assessments: Conduct enquiries and evaluations for children at risk of significant harm and seek legal orders for their protection.
- Collaborative Practice: Engage with service users in various environments, including their homes, offices, and other appropriate settings.
- Report Preparation: Develop professional grade written reports for various settings, including court proceedings.
- Court Representation: Represent the Local Authority in court, providing verbal and written evidence and justifying Local Authority actions.
- Record Maintenance: Keep client records in line with statutory and departmental requirements.
- Meeting Participation: Attend and contribute to child protection conferences, statutory reviews, core groups, and department meetings.
- Case Transfer Representation: Act on behalf of the Local Authority during case transfers between authorities.
- Plan Development: Assist in creating and implementing plans for children in need, including child protection, looked after children, and family support plans.
- Team Collaboration: Support the development and maintenance of an effective social work team, participating in team meetings and providing cover for colleagues as needed.
- Direct Service User Engagement: Utilise a broad range of social work knowledge, skills, methods, and techniques in direct work with service users.
- Professional Cooperation: Work jointly with other social workers and professionals, as directed by management.
- Administrative Duties: Manage all administrative tasks related to social work responsibilities.
- Service Planning and Monitoring: Provide information for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of services for departmental and official purposes.
- Network Collaboration: Work effectively within established professional and family networks for individual children in need and their families.
- Compliance: Adhere to departmental, council, and government policies and procedures.
- Supervision Participation: Engage in departmental supervision schemes, following plans and undertakings agreed upon during supervision.
- Meeting Chairing: Chair meetings within child protection procedures when approved by the Team Manager.
- Client Advocacy: Advocate for clients with other local authority departments and private or voluntary agencies, ensuring no conflict with the local authority role.
- Duty Rota Participation: Participate in the Social Work duty rota within the team.
- Safeguarding Commitment: Uphold the responsibility of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, ensuring their protection from harm.
Key Requirements for this role:
- Possess a degree in Social Work (such as CQSW, CSS, DiPSW, or an equivalent qualification).
- Must be registered with Social Work England.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Children Act 1989.
- Thorough understanding of the developmental stages of children and adolescents.
- Proven ability to conduct detailed analyses and produce high-quality written reports.
