Job Title: Project Manager
Location: Isle of Skye
Contract Length: Initial 6-month contract, with possibility of extension
Accommodation & Food: Provided by the client (first camp in Fort Angus until December)
Working Hours: Full-time, 45 hours per week (Mon-Fri to begin with, changing to 11 days on, 3 days off)
Salary: Day Rate (DOE)
Purpose of the Role:
As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning, managing, and delivering the project safely, sustainably, and within budget, ensuring it meets programme, cost, and quality objectives. You will oversee the successful delivery of all project phases, including planning, design, delivery, monitoring, commissioning, and close-out. You will also manage and lead a multi-disciplinary project team, foster a collaborative environment, and ensure strong client and stakeholder management throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of a 132kV cable installation project across the Isle of Skye, with a focus on creating 14km of access points.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the project, ensuring it is delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Ensure that health, safety, and environmental regulations are adhered to at all times, and that safe systems of work are implemented and maintained.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to a multi-disciplinary project team, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
- Effectively manage communication between all stakeholders, ensuring technical and non-technical parties are kept informed and engaged throughout the project.
- Use performance evaluation techniques and key metrics to monitor the progress of the project and implement solutions to overcome challenges.
- Ensure the project adheres to commercial contracts and standards, including reporting and managing change orders and claims.
- Take ownership of client relationships, ensuring effective stakeholder management, and ensuring satisfaction through regular updates and issue resolution.
- Sponsor and promote diversity and inclusion across the project.
- Drive continuous personal development and support the professional growth of the project team.
- Ensure successful project close-out and handover, providing comprehensive documentation and post-delivery support.
Essential Experience & Qualifications:
- Strong experience working on heavy civil projects, with a focus on large-scale infrastructure (e.g., cable installation, access road construction).
- Proven track record of managing and delivering projects successfully from start to finish.
- Deep understanding and practical experience with standard forms of contracts, including their application and negotiation.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Experience implementing safe systems of work and promoting a strong safety culture on-site.
- Ability to manage and influence a diverse team, providing support and mentoring when required.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a solution-focused approach to overcoming challenges.
- Experience using performance evaluation techniques and key project metrics to track progress.
- Passionate about driving business vision and inspiring team members towards a common goal.
- Proficient in Microsoft O365 and other relevant software tools.
- Current driving license.
Desirable Experience & Qualifications:
- Formal qualification in project management or equivalent experience.
- Member of a professional management body (e.g., APM).
- CSCS and SMSTS (or equivalent qualifications).
Additional Information:
- This is a site-based role with a dynamic work schedule, including an initial Mon-Fri working pattern, transitioning to 11 days on and 3 days off as the project progresses.
- Accommodation and food will be provided by the client, and the first camp will be based in Fort Angus until December.
