Job Title: Children's Team Manager - Emergency Duty Team (EDT)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Children’s Team Manager to lead the Emergency Duty Team (EDT) in Lewisham. This ongoing role offers both full-time and part-time options, giving you flexibility and a work-life balance. As a manager, you will oversee the out-of-hours social work service to children, young people, vulnerable adults, and those with mental health difficulties, including formal mental health assessments. You will ensure high-quality service delivery and monitor performance against key targets. Participation in the out-of-hours rota is also required. AMHP qualification and children’s social care experience are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staffing: Ensure staffing resources are deployed effectively to meet performance standards and statutory timeframes.
- Performance Monitoring: Regularly assess team performance against KPIs and implement actions to improve outcomes.
- Supervision and Appraisal: Provide supervision and performance appraisals for staff, guiding them towards achieving targets and addressing performance issues.
- Case Review: Audit case files regularly to ensure practice standards are met and take corrective action where necessary.
- Decision Making: Review and authorise care packages and case recommendations, taking responsibility for decisions made.
- Service Development: Initiate and monitor service improvements, ensuring they align with departmental goals and legislative requirements.
- Resource Management: Ensure efficient use of resources and manage budgets in line with Council financial regulations.
- Staff Management: Oversee recruitment, development, training, and performance management, addressing any issues in line with council procedures.
- Health & Safety: Ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff by prioritising health and safety procedures.
- Legislative Compliance: Ensure adherence to safeguarding policies, legislation, and best practice across children’s, mental health, and vulnerable adults' services.
Decision Making:
- Prioritisation of resources, authorisation of care packages, and recruitment decisions.
- Case and placement decisions within budgetary constraints.
Performance Indicators:
- Achieving KPIs, maintaining professional standards, and meeting budgetary targets.
- Managing complaints effectively and ensuring a positive service outcome.
