Flourish Education is currently recruiting for a Head of Design Technology to join a GOOD-rated secondary school in Wolverhampton. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Design Technology Secondary Teacher looking for their first middle leadership role. The successful candidate must specialise in Engineering/DT, as the school’s Textiles provision has recently moved to the Art department. This is a full-time, long-term role starting in September, with the potential to go permanent.

Job Role:

• Lead the Design Technology department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
• Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4) in line with the National Curriculum.
• Manage and support staff within the department, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
• Monitor and improve student outcomes, ensuring progress in line with school targets.
• Ensure excellent behaviour management strategies are in place to maintain a positive learning environment.
• Contribute to whole-school initiatives and leadership meetings.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Early Career Teacher (ECT) with strong experience in Design Technology.
• Proven track record as a Secondary Teacher delivering outstanding lessons at Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4).
• Strong leadership qualities with the ability to manage a team and drive departmental improvements.
• Excellent subject knowledge in Engineering/DT and a passion for the subject.
• Effective behaviour management skills to create an engaging and positive learning environment.

Working as a Head of Design Technology for Flourish Education also offers you excellent benefits, including:

• £160 to £250 per day, which equates to £31,200 to £48,750 per annum + TLR 2C based on a full school year.
