Purchasing Assistant

Location: Newcastle-Under-Lyme

Hours: Monday to Friday - 8am - 3pm

Salary: £22,000.00

Job type: 12 month fixed term contract

Role Overview: 

Our client is seeking a motivated Purchasing Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop a career in procurement and supply chain management, as full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting in the preparation and processing of purchase orders for goods and services
• Communicating with suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiate terms, and confirm delivery dates
• Monitoring stock levels and reorder products as necessary to ensure continuous availability
• Tracking and maintaining records of all orders, deliveries, and supplier invoices
• Ensuring compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures
• Supporting inventory management by assisting with stock checks and reporting discrepancies
• Assisting with the evaluation and selection of new suppliers or vendors
• Maintaining accurate files and documentation for audit purposes
• Working closely with other departments, such as finance and operations, to resolve any purchasing-related issues
• Providing general administrative support to the purchasing team as required

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong administration and customer service skills
• Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks in a high volume, fast-paced environment
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn
• Full training will be provided
