A leading specialist education provider seeks dedicated graduate SEN teaching assistant to join their innovative, multi-site academy trust serving children with SEMH, physical and Speech and communication needs across Leeds. This unique specialist school provides teaching and learning for students aged 5-16. Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant Role:

  • Competitive pay rate of up to £520 per week
  • Full-time, long-term Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant role at a specialist school in Leeds
  • Sociable working hours of 8:00 – 4:00, Monday to Friday
  • Support students aged 5-16 with complex learning, communication, and speech needs as well as other SEN
  • Provide 1:1 and small group interventions to improve communication skills and foster independence
  • Collaborate with Speech and Language Therapists, SEN teachers, and support staff to create tailored strategies
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports social, emotional, and academic growth
  • Gain hands-on experience for careers in Speech and Language Therapy, Educational Psychology, or SEN education

What do we need from you? Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Psychology degree or a similar qualification.
  • A passion for working with children, particularly those with SEN.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to helping students overcome barriers to learning.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with students to help them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their individual goals. Whether it’s using visual aids to support communication, participating in creative classroom activities, or helping students build confidence in social settings, your role will be pivotal.

The school places huge emphasis on professional development and choose to invest significantly in staff training at all levels. This means that, although experience of working in an SEN setting would be an advantage, specialist support and training will be provided for outstanding applicants wishing to make their career fulfilling and move into special education.
