Senior Resident Engineer
Location: Galway
€75,000 - €85,000 p.a.
18-Month Fixed-Term Contract
A global leading engineering consultancy is currently looking for a Senior Resident Engineer to join their team on a high-profile road, cycling, and active travel scheme in the east of Galway City.
The Senior Resident Engineer will be responsible for the site-based supervision, contract administration, stakeholder and client liaison, and reporting on a significant transport infrastructure project. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with relevant experience in roadworks and civil engineering, looking to play a key role in the construction phase of a large-scale project.
Key Responsibilities: Senior Resident Engineer
- Supervise and monitor construction activities, ensuring the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Administer contracts, including processing of valuations and assessment of claims.
- Liaise with stakeholders, clients, and the wider project team, ensuring effective communication and reporting.
- Inspect and supervise the construction of roadworks, including pavement, drainage, ducting, signage, lighting, etc.
- Lead a site team alongside a full-time Resident Engineer and Clerk of Works/Inspector.
- Ensure all work complies with H&S regulations and best practices.
Key Skills and Qualifications: Senior Resident Engineer
- Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer or equivalent (desirable but not mandatory).
- Relevant experience in the civil engineering industry, particularly in construction phase supervision and administration of Public Works Contracts for Civil Engineering Works.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, Microsoft Office).
- Experience administering contracts using the Public Works form, including valuations and claims assessments.
- Hands-on experience supervising roadwork construction, including pavement, drainage, signage, and lighting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proven ability to lead teams and work independently to achieve project goals.
- Knowledge of current H&S regulations and best practices.
- Full driving licence and valid SafePass.
