What you will do:

  • Family Safeguarding: Provide essential support and intervention for families at risk, prioritising their safety and developmental needs.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with adult practitioners, sharing expertise to devise and implement strategic safeguarding plans under the family safeguarding model.
  • Case Management: Conduct thorough assessments to identify family strengths, risks, and requirements, and devise actionable care plans that guide families towards positive outcomes.
  • Risk Assessment and Intervention: Carry out regular risk assessments to ensure appropriate safeguarding measures are in place, escalating any concerns accordingly.
  • Supervision and Mentorship: Offer guidance and supervision to junior practitioners and social workers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Multi-Agency Working: Engage with healthcare, education, housing, and other agencies to ensure a comprehensive safeguarding approach.
  • Report Writing and Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of casework, interventions, and risk assessments in compliance with organisational policies and legal mandates.
  • Safeguarding Focus: Lead the team in promoting safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring that all practices adhere to high standards.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in safeguarding and family support within children's social care or a similar setting is essential.
  • A degree in social work or equivalent qualification, with HCPC or a similar professional body registration.
  • In-depth understanding of safeguarding legislation and best practices within the family safeguarding context.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with professionals, families, and vulnerable individuals effectively.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring experience within a social care environment.
  • A steadfast commitment to child protection and family welfare.


Additional Information:

This temporary role is embedded in the Family Safeguarding team in the North locality. You will work collaboratively in a hybrid model, with scheduled office days providing routine and structure, plus the flexibility of remote work.
