Our client is an international logistics company, specialised in international, 3rd-party and freight forwarding business; they are currently looking to appoint an experienced Customs Clerk to help grow the business from their Chelmsford branch.
As Customs Clerk, in a typical day you will be advising customers on the most effective customs procedures, dealing with queries quickly and efficiently and arranging deliveries onward to the client.
Duties of the Customs Clerk:
- Loading jobs in Multifreight when required
- Preparing CDS entries
- Ongoing learning of Customs Regimes/Commodity Codes/CPC Codes
- Handling post-clearance documents
- Communication with clients, shipping lines and overseas offices/agents
- Raising and passing invoices
- Assist and prepare for audits by HMRC
We're keen to speak to people with solid freight forwarding and customs clearance experience (for all modes), commercial awareness, knowledge of tariffs and incoterms. Experience with Far-East imports would be a distinct advantage, as would experience with exports to EU, USA and Far-East, although these are not essential.
This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday, so no weekends required! In return, the successful Customs Clerk will be offered a salary in the region of £28,000 (in line with experience and skills) + bonus.
