Role Purpose:
As a Qualified Social Worker in the Adults Mental Health Team, you will work with adults experiencing mental health challenges to assess their needs, manage risks, and support recovery. This role involves collaborating with individuals, families, and multi-agency partners to deliver person-centred, strength-based interventions that promote wellbeing and independence while ensuring the safety and safeguarding of vulnerable individuals.

What you will do:

  • Conduct holistic, strength-based assessments in line with the Care Act 2014 to identify needs, risks, and outcomes.
  • Develop and review person-centred care plans to support individuals in achieving recovery and independence.
  •  Work within the framework of the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended) and the Mental Capacity Act 2005 to support individuals with mental health challenges.
  • Lead on safeguarding enquiries and risk management plans to protect vulnerable adults from harm.
  • Work closely with mental health professionals, housing, police, and voluntary sector organisations to deliver coordinated support.
  •  Attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and strategy discussions.
  • Support individuals to make informed decisions, promoting their rights, wishes, and preferences in all aspects of their care.
  • Liaise with advocates and representatives to ensure compliance with statutory advocacy requirements.
  • Manage a varied and complex caseload, maintaining high standards of practice in line with legal and organisational frameworks.
  •  Record and report casework accurately, ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities and organisational policies.
  • Participate in regular supervision, training, and reflective practice to maintain professional competence.
  • Keep up-to-date with developments in mental health, social work practice, and relevant legislation, including the Care Act, Mental Health Act, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS).


Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in Social Work.
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience working with adults with mental health challenges in a social care or health setting.
  •  Knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983, and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a complex caseload.
