What You Will Do:

  • Provide essential regulatory services across Solihull's borough, ensuring the safety of customers, visitors, and businesses through guidance and inspections.
  • Investigate notifiable infectious diseases and accidents, offering crucial advice and guidance in Food Hygiene and Health and Safety.
  • Investigate and address breaches of the law, maintaining the proper custody of exhibits and documents, and present evidence in court when necessary.
  • Lead specific Food and Safety projects, supporting the efficient delivery of Divisional Service Plans.
  • Manage registration, licensing, and approval processes for people, places, or vehicles, ensuring full regulatory compliance.
  • Develop specialized competence in Environmental Health, Food Safety, and Health and Safety to guide colleagues and partners on complex issues.
  • Accurately capture critical data in the Division's IT systems, ensuring accurate and reliable records.
  • Commit to personal and professional development, embracing ongoing training, and assisting with training others in the organization.
  • Undertake additional duties as required, fully engaging in the Food and Safety Officer role.

Essential Criteria:

  • Hold a Diploma or Degree in Environmental Health, or a Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection, with professional registration with CIEH.
  • Demonstrated experience in advising on food safety and health and safety practices, with a proven ability to conduct compliance inspections.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with expert knowledge of current practices and techniques in the regulatory field.
